About the Reading Room & Recreation Ground

Set in the heart of the beautiful village of Curdridge, the Reading Room is the perfect location for holding private functions to celebrate that all important family occasion or to hold regular classes, clubs, workshops and meetings.  Full details can be found here.

The facilities at the Reading Room are managed by a charity - Curdridge Reading Room & Recreation Ground Charity (CRR&RG).  The charity ensures that the building and grounds are run for the benefit of all of the inhabitants Curdridge and the surrounding villages and towns.  The ultimate aim of the charity is to provide a community resource that is considered to be the hub of the village.

We extend a warm welcome to people from across our local area with many regular clubs, classes and activities taking place here, currently including Zumba, Pilates, children's dance classes, a thriving drama group, an auction and dog agility classes.  Visit our classes and activities page to find out more or click the image below.

The charity shares the Recreation Ground with the Curdridge Cricket Club​ which has been part of the village since 1853.  They have their own clubhouse with matches being regularly held on Wednesdays and Saturdays (click for fixtures)

The Scout & Guide Headquarters are also located at the Reading Room.  Currently being used by the 29th Itchen North Scout Group who have meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Click here for full details.

With ample FREE parking and the beautiful, substantial space outside, the Curdridge Reading Room is a unique facility with so much more to offer than an average village hall!

The ground makes it a great space to hold your wedding reception or celebrate a christening, especially as St Peter's Church is only a two-minute walk away.

The charity relies upon the income generated by hires of the facilities to meet its day-to-day running costs.  Due to the effects of the pandemic, this income is not yet fully recovered and the charity's ability to meet these costs are currently being supplemented by income from its fundraising events.
